Domain terms
Last updated 2026-10-17 · Applies to Huupa, a service of JBKlutse Ventures, Ghana.
In short: the domain is registered in your name and you own it; you pay in cedis before we register it; if we cannot register it we refund you in full; a registered name cannot be refunded; renewals are billed to you and a name you do not renew expires.
1. What these terms cover
These terms apply when you buy, or ask us to register, a domain name through Huupa, and add to our general terms of service and refund policy. We (JBKlutse Ventures) arrange the registration for you through our registrar partner. The registry and registrar that actually record the name have their own rules, and by buying a domain you also accept them.
2. You are the owner
- The domain is registered with you, or the organisation you name, as the registrant. We do not register names in our own name on your behalf.
- You must give accurate owner details: full name, a working email, phone number and postal address. Registries require this. Giving false details, or failing to answer a verification email, can lead to the domain being suspended or cancelled, and that is not a reason for a refund.
- You must not register a name that infringes someone else's trade mark or is used for fraud, malware, spam or anything unlawful. We may refuse a name, and a registry or court may take one away.
3. Price and payment
- The price is shown in Ghana cedis before you pay. It is the registry's price for the first year plus our service fee, converted at our rate on the day. It is checked live when you pay.
- We take your payment first and register second. Before registering we check again that the name is still free and that the price has not risen. If either is no longer true, or the registration fails for any reason, we refund the whole payment to the way you paid.
- Once a name is registered the registry's fee cannot be returned to us, so a registered domain is not refundable, including if you change your mind or typed the wrong name. Check the spelling before you pay.
- Some endings, such as .gh and .com.gh, we register by hand. We quote you the price first; nothing is charged until you agree.
4. Registration time
Most names register within a minute. Some need extra checks and can take longer; the page shows progress. If a registration needs something from you, we will tell you what.
5. Renewal and expiry
- A domain is registered for one year. It expires if it is not renewed and may then be lost or sold to someone else.
- We remind you before the renewal date and invoice the renewal at the renewal price shown when you bought, adjusted for any change in the registry's price, plus our service fee. Pay the invoice before the date on it so we can renew in time.
- If a renewal is not paid, we do not renew the name. We are not responsible for the loss of a name you chose not to renew or did not pay for in time.
6. Using and moving your domain
- Your domain's DNS is managed in a zone we create for you. If you host with Huupa we point it at your hosting; otherwise we give you the nameservers to use.
- You may ask us to transfer the domain to another registrar. New registrations are usually locked against transfer for 60 days by the registry's rules. We will give you the authorisation code once the lock allows it, and we do not charge for the transfer itself.
- Domain privacy (hiding your contact details from the public record) is on where the ending allows it.
7. Your information
We pass your name, email, phone and address to our registrar and the registry because registering a name requires it. We keep the details for as long as the domain is registered and for the period the law requires after. See the privacy policy.
8. What we cannot promise
Availability changes by the minute, so a name shown as free may be taken before you pay (we then refund you). We do not guarantee that a name will help your business, rank in search or be free of disputes. To the extent the law allows, our liability for a domain is limited to the amount you paid us for it.
9. Contact
For domain requests, renewals, transfers and anything about these terms, email [email protected].
10. Disputes and law
If someone challenges your right to a name, the registry's dispute process (for example the UDRP for .com) applies and we will pass on notices. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana.
